Tube to the Stadium
So I've got tickets for the boy & I for Thursday.

Could anyone tell me (or where I can find out) how much a return from Waterloo - Stratford is on the Underground for an adult and also for a child.

I have no rail cards, Oyster’s, Herpes or anything else.

I can only find singles on the TFL site.

Is a return simply 2x singles?

I only ask as SW Trains are doing cheap train tickets but obviously they don't included the underground.

So I'm trying to work out if it is cheaper buying tube tickets separately rather than getting a Travelcard.

All this just to try subsidising the £5 a pint that will no doubt meet me upon arrival to the Olympic Park!

If you have a contactless card, use that for you to get the oyster fare. Think under 11's are free

Re: Tube to the Stadium
Don't know the price but the cheapest way to travel is via an Oyster card or by touching in and out on a contactless card.

Going to guess that is for adults only you will need to buy a ticket for the boy - assuming he is under 16.

How much did it cost you to get a tube to Upton Park?

It's in the same zone isn't it so should be the same price.

Lenny,

Yes, a return is simply 2x singles.

Thing is if you don't have Oyster cards I'm not sure if you can use the contactless for both you and the boy at the same time. Paying in cash for both tickets is about twice as much so unless you live really far out then a travelcard sounds like the best option (unless you take the trouble to get Oyster cards for yourself and the kid, which you really should do if you ever plan on going into London again.)

Don't wish to be picky Johnson, but Stratford was moved to zone two. More specifically it now straddles two and three

If doing contactless you need a card each.

I too went looking on the club website for information . But unfortunately this lists the Boleyn Ground as our home gound.
There is plenty of information listed on how to get there. But I don't have my hi viz, helmet or work boots.

Pathetic really.
Who the hell administrates their website.

Yeah, just buy the railcard to stratford, and your overland ticket will get you through the tube

Lenny,

It all depends on how old the boy is. Under 11s travel free on the tube and certain rail services, but if he over 11 and you intend to make a habit of this then the best thing to do is get him an 11-16 Zip Oyster Card.

Get mrs len to lend your boy her bank card so you can both use contactless. Best method. Have a go in the club shop while you have it. Win win situation!

Re: Tube to the Stadium
HFBR. It doesn't matter what zone it is a travel card doesn't cover the javelin. Have to buy it separately. My card is £13 for a week day and 9 for weekend. Have to pay extra for javelin and best price I can see today is 9.80 return even with my rail card so fuck that

Syd Puddefoot 6:20 Mon Aug 1
Re: Tube to the Stadium
Contactless is not best in the long run for the child as you will pay full adult rate. Not a solution for this coming weekend as it takes a while to arrive but you can apply online using the link i posted earlier, which also tells you what services you can use it on and which are chargeable (including the Javelin) but you will get child rates on them.

DaveT

I was responding to Johnson who said the cost would be the same on the tube as UP, but its not as it changed zones.

That said , I agree with you on the javelin. I always thought 'we' paid to build HS1. There is no reason I.can think of that justifies it not being part of the travel card system. Same as Heathrow express, though I'm not sure who.paid for that
